Doing Agency in a variational sense is to produce "Variations" in / on Fields (which can be represented through the operators of vector calculus: gradients, divergence, curl, Laplacian, and all the more complex combinations of these).

Variationality is one of the fundamental Dimensionalities of Reality, the foundation of Spatiality and Temporality—the spatial and temporal Dimensionalities—which in turn constitute the basis of the spatial dimension (Space) and the temporal one (Time), two of the principal Phenomena generated by the Dynamics of the Primary Source through the internal interaction between the Fundamental Force and the Elementary Field.

Variationality can be considered the fundamental expression of Agency on its passive side. It is the essential manifestation of the variational Principle / Property / Behavior of the Field / Fields, closely connected with the Operator of Reality called Perturbation, itself an expression of the more general operator Variation, together with Translation and Rotation, which are in turn related to the broader operators Propagation and Conservation.

Thus, Variationality is the passive characterization and expression of Agency and its objects, the Acted / Fields.
