Acted / Fields are the passive aspects of the unities represented by the Sources.

They embody the passive side of Reality, of Existence. Acted are the Fields upon which Agents / Forces act in the Formation (Creation and Evolution) of Reality, across its two domains: physical and metaphysical or cognitive.

In other words, Acted are the fundamental variational (spatial and temporal) Entities (Space and Time) that give life to—and incessantly sustain—the construction of Reality. They represent objects of the causal Action.

The Properties of Acted / Fields

Acted / Fields manifest themselves by receiving the Action exerted by the corresponding Agents / Forces, and re-acting to it.

They are centers of variational re-action.

Acted / Fields are the receivers, the passive co-creator of Events produced through the internal interaction between Forces and Fields within Sources.

Elementary and derived Acted / Fields

We can identify an elementary Acted—the Elementary Field, the Effect, the Variation, the "substance" of the Creation and Evolution of Reality—and various derived Acted / Fields, which are distinct manifestations of the Field at different levels of Reality, Fields that variationally deform and re-act under the Action of Agents / Forces.

Elementary Field

The Elementary Field (or Primary Acted) is the passive, receptive aspect / expression of the Source of Reality. It is the primary Variation—the variational origin of Existence and Essence / Form of Reality—the variational generator of the primordial "substance", the Elementary Action (inhomogeneities in the distributions of the Elementary Events), the substrate (that which lies beneath all that exists) sustaining Existence and Evolution: pure Existence without Form.

It is the Acted—the object of reification—the Elementary Field from which all natural Fields derive. It is the Variation that sustains and supports the incessant transmutation of the possible, the potential, into the existing, the actual, the real—at all levels of Complexity.

Under the incessant Action of the Fundamental Force the perfect homogeneity of the rest state of the Elementary Field (Nothingness) is perturbed, producing Variations, creating Elementary Events, producing the uncorrelated Elementary Action—the most elementary Form of Existence (Emptiness, the perfect / absolute vacuum, the unstructured Elementary Field).

It is the fundamental variational Entity—incessantly perturbed by the Fundamental Force in the sub-Process of Creation, and organized in the sub-Process of Evolution—the object of the Formation of Reality.

In other words, under the incessant Action of the the Force the Field initiates its fundamental state transition—from Non-Existence to Existence—from the absolute static homogeneity, which I call "Nothingness", to the absolute dynamic homogeneity—the unorganized state of the Field—"Emptiness"—commonly referred to as the unstructured Field. This condition can be conceived as the quantum vacuum: the substrate of Information, the origin of every Structure and Form that emerges through the organization of Elementary Action itself.

The Elementary Acted also sustains the Evolution of Action, supporting the production of increasingly complex Forms (referred to as "Information", In-Form-Action), and permitting the development of Structures of Information (Halos / Particles, Waves and their Interactions in the physical domain of Nature) and the Physical Forms that constitute the Universe.

From another point of view—equivalently—we can say that the Elementary Field is the primary "Force receiving Acted"—an all-encompassing sub-Entity that, under the Action of an Agent / Force, transforms itself deforming from a homogeneous, undifferentiated static condition (Nothingness) to a homogeneous, undifferentiated dynamic condition (Emptiness)—into a structured, differentiated configuration.

The Elementary Field is the reactant/reagent in the Creation of Existence and the Evolution of Essence/Form—through the expression of Variationality and the propagation and conservation of Variations, Events, Action—whose organization produces Information and drives its Evolution toward ever higher levels of Complexity.

It operates within the Process of Formation of Reality—or rather—passively supports the Process of Formation of Reality itself—enabling the seamless translation of pure potentiality into actualized structure.

We can also imagine it as a "symmetry-breaking" environment or supporter—initially symmetric (i.e., invariant under specific transformations)—that evolves into a condition in which part of that symmetry is lost—the emergence of structure.

And furthermore, we can see it as an "phenomenological supporter / host / recipient"—one that experience the shift from undivided Unity (the Primary Source, in its Acted/Field passive aspect) to the articulated, multiform, complex Reality we can observe. At the same time, it functions as a "temporal theater"—incessantly hosting the irreversible Process of Formation of Reality—with its arrow of Time. Temporal theater in the sense of a "scene" in which Events unfold over Time. A "stage" where events take place through time, influencing the rate of the flow of Time itself.

In summary, the Elementary Field, acted upon by the Fundamental Force, is incessantly perturbed, forming the Elementary Events, Elementary Action—the most elementary form of Existence. It is continuously vivified within the Process of Formation of Reality—a unitary formative process that leads from the Source to the Forms, from unity to the Universe in Evolution.

Derived Acted / Fields

Derived Acted / Fields are manifestations of the Elementary Field at the complex levels of Reality. They are specifications of the object—the passive aspect of Agencyof the Source(s)—that embodies the capacity to produce Action.

They express more complex forms of Variationality: Fields that support metric, gravitational, kinetic, electric, magnetic, weak and strong nuclear, and other phenomena.

Derived Fields are the "Acted recipient of Derived Forces"—specific sub-Entities that are transformed or deformed through Derived Processes, generating Information, InfoStructures, and Forms—and enabling their Evolution.

Derived Fields are the reactant/reagent in the Creation of Existence and the Evolution of Essence/Form at levels of Reality above the Elementary Level—always through the expression of Variationality, with the induced formation of Variations, Events, and Action—whose organization produces increasingly complex Information and propels its Evolution toward ever higher levels of Complexity.

They operate within the Process of Formation of Reality—or rather—passively support all sub-Processes that derive from the general one.

We can also imagine them as a "symmetry-breaking environment or supporter"—which undergoes the formation of an increasingly structured Reality—an "emergence receiver", an object of individuation.

From another point of view—and more precisely—they are viewpoints—ways of observing the Elementary Field from different perspectives—that, each time, highlight peculiar aspects of its dynamics.

For example, by observing the Elementary Field from the standpoint of the correlations within the dynamics of event-points according to the Mode / Component of Elementary Action that I call Perturbation, what emerges is the Derived Field, which we may refer to as the Metric Field / Field of Mass Distribution or Mass Density (with positive or negative density: Dark Energy or Dark Matter/Ordinary Matter, respectively).

As we will explore more extensively in the upcoming chapters—particularly those dedicated to Action, Information, and InfoStructures—by "correlations within the dynamics of event-points according to the Mode / Component of Elementary Action that I call Perturbation"—progressively descending toward increasingly elementary levels of Reality—I mean:

  • the dynamic scheme of correlations exhibiting specific patterns (Structures of Information, or InfoStructures such as Waves, Vortices/Halos/Particles, etc.)
  • of spatial correlations (Information / Energy -> in this case Mass / Curvature of the Temporal Metric)
  • of the inhomogeneities in temporal distributions (Elementary Action -> Mode Perturbation)
  • of Elementary spatial fluctuations (Elementary Events) in resonance around the Planck scale.

Classification of Derived Acted / Fields

According to their Complexity and variational aspects, Properties and Behaviors, and morphological configurations, Derived Acted / Fields can be classified as follows.

The distinction between the various classes is not so clear-cut, and real phenomena rarely involve Fields of a single type exclusively. For example, the Dark Structures that populate the Dark Cosmic Web—the dark component of the Global Cosmic Web—such as Dark Halos (with shells of Dark Energy and cores of Dark Matter), which, immersed in the omnipresent dark turbulence, host galaxies, clusters, and superclusters, or constitute voids and giant voids, etc., can be represented through organizational schemes of "classical fields". However, it is evident that when we observe them closely—within dimensional depths, for instance in the friction regions between large bubbles whose mutual dynamics lead to the formation of InfoStructures of Ordinary Matter (e.g., electrons)—we must represent them with reference to quantum fields.

  • Quantum fields: Derived Fields upon which Derived Forces act at the level of quantum objects (small scale Structures)—Waves, Particles, Interactions. They support the Existence and Essence / Form of the Structures of Information. Derived Physical Fields, in their quantum form, can be represented as scalar, vector, tensor, or spinor fields, whose internal organizations (or excitations) represent the Structures of Information (Waves and Particles, as in Quantum Field Theory and the Standard Model). Examples include the quantum fields of quantum chromodynamics and electroweak theory.

  • Deterministic (classical) fields: the derived fields on which the derived forces act at the level of the Forms (the objects that make up the Universe: rocks, cars, stars, galaxies, etc.), made up of a large number of interacting Structures of Information. They support the existence and the essence / form of the Forms of the Universe. They are special cases of Quantum Fields (QF observed by sufficient distance, where the quantum aspects disappear due to a sum / average of complementary / opposite contributions of the huge number of Structures of information that partecipate to their existence and form). Derived Physical Fields, in their deterministic form, can be represented as scalar, vector, tensor or spinor fields, whose internal organizations represent the Structures of Information (waves and particles as in Quantum Fields Theory and the Standard Model). The metric and the gravitational fields in General Relativity, the electric and magnetic fields in Maxell equations and in Special Relativity, etc.
  • Deterministic (classical) fields: Derived Fields upon which Derived Forces act at the level of medium and large scale Structures and Forms—the objects that constitute the Universe (rocks, cars, stars, galaxies, etc.)—composed of vast numbers of interacting Structures of Information. They support the existence and essence / form of the Forms of the Universe. These are special cases of Quantum Fields (QF observed at sufficient distance, where quantum aspects vanish due to the sum / average of complementary or opposing contributions from the vast number of participating Structures of Information). Derived Physical Fields, in their deterministic form, can be represented as scalar, vector, tensor, or spinor fields, whose internal organizations represent the Structures of Information. Examples include the metric and gravitational fields in General Relativity, and the electric and magnetic fields in Maxwell’s equations and Special Relativity.

  • Cognitive (finalistic) fields: abstract fields that support the expression of the Cognitive Action by Cognitive Agents, and its organization in Cognitive Information and the relative Structures and Forms ("messages" object of the communication between Cognitive Agents, "memories" of the interactions between Cognitive Agents and their environment, etc.)
  • Cognitive (finalistic) fields: abstract fields that support the expression of Cognitive Action by Cognitive Agents, and its organization into Cognitive Information and the corresponding Structures and Forms—such as "messages" exchanged between Cognitive Agents, "memories" of interactions between Cognitive Agents and their environments, and more.
