In this section, we will focus on Sources, beginning with a discussion of their properties and classification, building on what was previously introduced when discussing Entities.

Sources are the causal and variational (spatial and temporal) origin of the Events that incessantly form Reality. Although Sources are inseparable unities, they always manifest an active and a passive aspect. For convenience—and with the clear understanding that they cannot truly exist as separate entities—we may, for descriptive purposes and in line with common knowledge, identify two kinds of sub-Entities: Agents / Forces and Acted / Fields. In short, an Entity, a Source is a Force in Action on a Field.

I call them Sources because they simultaneously represent the causal and the variational aspects of the incessant Creation of Existence at every level of Reality.

We can identify only one Primary Source of Reality and an infinite number of Derived Sources.

Properties of the Sources

Both aspects—active and passive, Forces and Fields—contribute to the Properties of the Sources, each with its own distinctive characteristics. The active aspect (Agent / Force) is responsible for the Property I call causality, which represents the active aspect of the production of effects in the form of Events, whose inhomogeneities constitute the Action.

The passive aspect (Acted / Field) is responsible for the Property I call variationality—spatiality and temporality—which represents the passive aspect of the production of effects in the form of Events, and Action. It embodies the variational aspect of the Source: variation of the Elementary Field, in the space-time dimensions of Reality, produced by the Action of the active aspect upon the passive aspect (in an extended sense, as we will describe further in this paper).

Primary and Derived Sources

The whole of Reality—the Universe in evolution—emerges as a manifestation of a unique Source, which expresses causality and variationality (spatiality, and temporality). I call it the Fundamental or Primary Source, the Source of Reality. Everything that exists is the product of a Process of Formation, which represents the expression of the creative and evolutive power of that Source, the Agency of the Primary Source of Reality.

Every Event, every Action, every piece of Information / Energy, Structure, or Form produced by that process becomes, in turn, a new source of Events, Actions, Information / Energy, Structures, and Forms. Everything that exists is thus a new Derived Source, manifesting and expressing itself in infinite Derived Processes that collectively compose the infinite Process of Formation of Reality.

The Primary Source

The Primary Source is the source of the Elementary Events, the Elementary Action, the most elementary form of "substance", from whose organization everything comes, which supports the existence of the whole Reality and the Universe in evolution.

The Primary Source is the origin of the Elementary Events, the Elementary Action—the most elementary form of "substance"—from whose organization everything arises, and which sustains the existence of the whole of Reality and the Universe in Evolution. Substance in the sense of "to stand under", or "to be present beneath". We will later see how Events—what happens—and Action represent what lies beneath: the unmanifest that grants Existence to what we observe through its Essence, its Form, and through the Information/Energy that expresses its manifest aspect.

In summary, the Source of Reality—the Fundamental or Primary Source—is the causal origin and the variational (space-time) texture of the Existence and the Essence / Form of Reality. Its inner aspects—the Fundamental Force and the Elementary Field—are the fundamental sub-Entities whose interaction gives rise to Reality in its most elementary form. Force and Field are a unity, a pair of complementary sub-Entities, two distinct expressions of the same Source. The Force is the active, creative aspect of the Source; the Field is the passive, its receptive aspect. Force and Field are a unity—a pair of aspects of the same Entity, of the same Source.

Derived Sources

Derived Sources are entities that emit, generate, create a more complex form of Events, Action that make up Reality and the Universe in evolution, from the level of the more elementary forms of structures in the Elementary Field to the most complex forms that make up the Universe. Every Structure of Information, every Form, every System, the whole Universe are Sources, entities that produce Events, Action. Complex Events are various organized set / networks of Elementary Events, or less Complex Events, in a nested organization of increasing Complexity.

Derived Sources are entities that emit, generate, and create more complex forms of Events and Action that constitute Reality and the Universe in evolution, ranging from the most elementary structures in the Elementary Field to the most complex forms that compose the Universe. Every Structure of Information, every Form, every System—the entire Universe—is a Source: an entity that produces Events and Action. Complex Events are organized sets or networks of Elementary Events or less complex Events, nested within an architecture of increasing Complexity.

Classification of the Sources

At any level of Reality we can identify one or many classes of derived sources. So, we will see that Action, Information, the Structures of Information, the Forms that compose the physical and the cognitive Universe represent the product of the various sections of the Process of Formation of Reality, and, at the same time, a new source that, in that same process, leads to the creation / evolution of new products, new steps in the evolution toward the complexity that we see in the Universe.

At every level of Reality, we can identify one or more classes of derived sources. Thus, we will observe that Action, Information, Structures of Information, and the Forms that compose both the physical and cognitive Universe represent the products of various segments of the Process of Formation of Reality. At the same time, each is a new source that, within that same process, contributes to the creation and evolution of new products—new steps in the unfolding complexity we observe throughout the Universe.
