Purposive or purpose‑oriented Agents are the Agents/Forces that operate in that part of the Physical domain of Reality in which purpose‑oriented Phenomena prevail over deterministic and quantum ones. They are "centers of causal Action in the cognitive domain of Nature", which generate and sustain the dynamics of living beings and automata.

Their expressions, their properties and behaviors manifest "goal" and "purpose" (authentic or simulated, emulated), and cannot be predicted with accuracy because they emerge from complex interactions between physical and cognitive environments (ecosystems), complex cognitive systems, and intricate Processes of communication / memory / reasoning. Because of these characteristics, their behavior can be scarcely predicted and must be represented in terms of probabilities. In general, the greater the Complexity, the less predictable their behavior becomes, and their expressions indeed require a statistical-probabilistic description.

Purpose‑oriented Agents are responsible for and govern the dynamics and the interactions of the Cognitive Forms.

They deal with Cognitive Action (Cognitive Events) and Cognitive Information (Cognitive Relations).
