For Complex Relation I intend any Relation that emerges between Complex Events (Macro-Events) in the fundamental Dimensions of Reality (Cause, Space and Time) within the organization (Information) of Derived Sources (Derived Agents / Forces and Derived Acted / Fields), which we refer to as Physical Structures of Information and material, immaterial and cognitive Forms. That is—any organization (Information) of Events and Derived Action that gives form to Reality.
In the increasingly complex levels of Reality, a reduced prevalence of the stochastic component is observed, accompanied by the emergence of a more prominent deterministic part. As Events grow in Complexity, Macro-Events acquire greater causale, spatial and temporal extension. The stochastic component—the "quantum" aspects governed by uncertainty and statistical averages—becomes less prevalent, both quantitatively and qualitatively, compared to the deterministic aspects. The Processes of Events that sustain the Existence of macro-objects (for example, an apple) exhibit more deterministic characteristics and Phenomena than those that sustain the Existence of molecules and atoms—the Particles, Waves and Interactions that constitute that apple.
It is a true hierarchy of classes of Relations, increasingly complex as we move away from the causal source of Reality—the Primary Source—as causal and variational Evolution (spatial and temporal) leads us forward, into the exploration of the possible, into its actualization that incessantly constructs Reality.
All the Processes of Events organized by Relations representing the Existence (Events) and the Essence / Form (Relations) of the InfoStructures that compose an apple (an apple is a Process, a complex Process, a portion of the incessantly forming Reality)—and every interaction among them—can be described by processes that exhibit a significant stochastic component—largely responsible for the peculiar behaviors of the quantum realm—alongside an emerging deterministic component that ensures a certain stability of Existence and Form. In this more or less stable (dis-)equilibrium, the life of the elementary Particles that make up the atoms and molecules forming apples—as well as nearly all of the Ordinary Matter in the Universe—is at stake.
The collective behavior of those processes, which describe atoms and molecules of the apple, appears, instead, more deterministic than stochastic—unlike those very Processes we represent as Waves, Particles, and Interactions. The Processes that represent atoms and molecules manifest increasingly fewer stochastic/quantum aspects and increasingly more deterministic/classical ones. This is even more evident in the progressively complex and articulated Processes we call things, objects, apples, rocks, stars, cells, bodies, etc. Greater Complexity, greater spatial and temporal extension, translates into greater stability—with a reduced incidence of random, uncertain dynamic components, and an increase in stability, certainty, and determinateness. This is not a linear law but a tendency, since—as already mentioned—within the same Structure, within the same Form, different aspects always coexist, characteristic of different phases of the causal and variational Evolution of Reality.
For example, a human being can be viewed as a superposition of levels of Reality and Complexity, each situated at different stages of causal and variational evolution. Within a human being, aspects, structures, and forms coexist (Existence) and coevolve (Essence / Form):
- the elementary level of the dynamics of the Elementary Field, where Elementary Events are incessantly generated—spatial fluctuations resonating at the Planck scale,
- the level of inhomogeneities in the temporal distributions of these Elementary Events, which I refer to here as Elementary Action | Perturbation, and the inhomogeneities in other aspects of the Field's dynamics that we have identified as the roots of other Modes / Components of Elementary Action: Translation, Rotation: Chirality, and Rotation: Axis Orientation,
- the level of correlations among these inhomogeneities, which represent the Information / Energy of the Field, and which, in the realm of InfoStructures (both Dark—dark turbulence and halos—and quantum entities such as waves, particles, and interactions), we recognize as Mass, Motion, Charge, and Spin—the Fundamental Physical Quantities,
- the level at which these Modes / Components organize into more complex physical quantities, such as those associated with weak and strong nuclear phenomena, and composite particles (e.g., hadrons—mesons and baryons, like nucleons—protons and neutrons—formed by quarks),
- the level of atoms and molecules (inorganic and organic),
- the level of biological matter (complex organic compounds, intracellular structures, cells, tissues, organs, systems, etc.), which support both biological life and cognitive life,
- the level of physical structures whose behavior can be described by classical physics -> determinism -> certainty/predictability,
- the level of immaterial / cognitive aspects, permeated by teleological dimensions that guide behavior and cognitive dynamics.
Thus, there coexist and coevolve multiple levels:
- levels dominated by the uncertainty of the most elementary domain—where Form remains embryonic,
- levels governed by quantum dynamics with all its bizarre Phenomena—where Form is present, but mutable, unstable, and not well defined,
- levels describable through classical/deterministic dynamics—where Form becomes increasingly well defined,
- and even more complex, immaterial levels where finalistic aspects emerge and develop, guiding the exploration of the world, behavior, activity, and cognitive expression of living beings—where Form becomes immaterial, though still supported by (complex) material Forms,
- and beyond that, a metacognitive dimension enabling human beings to reflect upon their own cognitive activity and the very immaterial Form(s) that characterize it.
A multilayered structure and dynamic that embraces the entire landscape of causal and variational (spatiotemporal) Evolution of Reality itself.
