Physical Action is the expression of the Physical Agency of Physical Sources in the physical domain of Reality (Physical Reality).
Action is the second point of the "Main causal chain of Reality": Force-Action-Information-Form.
Physical Action at the same time comprehends:
- the manifestation and influence of the Elementary Action in the physical domain of Reality,
- all the forms of Derived Action (any form of Action, other than or more complex of, the Elementary Action) which manifest themselves in the physical domain of Reality.
We call these forms of Physical Action "Derived" because they come from the organization and Evolution of the most elementary form of Physical Action.
As the Elementary Action is the expression of the Primary Source—the Fundamental Force and Elementary Field pair—Derived Physical Action is the expression of the Derived Physical Sources, the couples composed of Physical Agents / Forces and Physical Acted / Fields, which manifest themselves through all the derived, more complex forms of Physical Agency.
- Derived Physical Action represents the expression, the manifestation of the derived causal Derived Physical Forces.
- It represents the root of each complex physical event, of each variation of the dynamics and the states of Derived Physical Fields.
- It's the foundation of Physical Reality at all the levels more complex that the elementary one.
- It's the "substrate" of the Physical Forms, organized by the Physical Relations in Physical Information and in Physical Structures of Information
Derived Physical Action represents the expression, the manifestation of the Derived Physical Forces.
It represents the root of each complex Physical Event, of each variation in the dynamics and states of Derived Physical Fields.
It's the foundation of Physical Reality at all the levels more complex than the elementary one.
It's the "substrate" of the Physical Forms, organized by the Physical Relations in Physical Information and in Physical Structures of Information.
It is the main expression of Physical Agency. It is the product of the internal interaction (physical interaction) between Derived Agents / Forces and Derived Acted / Fields, the fundamental manifestation of the Derived Physical Sources.
Physical Action represents the expression, the manifestation of physical causal Agents, Derived Physical Forces acting on Derived Physical Fields. It represents the act of producing Complex Physical Events, changes in the state of "Physical Acted / Fields - Physical Entities". This is the foundation of the complex levels of Physical Reality. It is the "substrate" of Physical Existence and Physical Essence / Form, and, more generally, of Physical Information (In-Form-Action), the Physical Structures of Information and the Physical Forms that compose the Physical Universe in Evolution.
It relates to the distribution of Complex Physical Events in the causal, spatial and temporal dimensions.
Derived Physical Action expresses itself in three Modes / Components. They are the functional Operators that operate at the level of Derived Physical Action in the Process of Formation of Physical Reality.
- Derived Physical Forces acting on the Derived Physical Fields, express themselves in three inseparable modes, the modes, the components of Physical Action:
- Perturbation: specifications of the operator Variation and expression of the Principle of Uncertainty, they transmute the pressure of the Physical Agents / Forces in an incessant flux of variations, fluctuations, of the fundamental parameters of the Physical Acted / Fields
- Translation: specifications of the operator Propagation and expression of the Principle of Action and Reaction, they transmute the variations in propagational fluxes, directed to the restoration of homogeneity, of isotropy
- Rotation: specifications of the operator Conservation and expression of the Principle of Least Action, transmutes the propagation of the variations in conservative fluxes, that tend to conserve the same perturbations.
Derived Physical Forces acting on the Derived Physical Fields express themselves in three inseparable Modes—the Modes, the Components of Physical Action:
- Perturbation: specifications of the operator Variation and expression of the Principle of Uncertainty. They transmute the pressure of the Physical Agents / Forces into an incessant creation of Variations and fluctuations of the fundamental dynamics of the Physical Acted / Fields.
- Translation: specifications of the operator Propagation and expression of the Principle of Action and Reaction. They transmute Variations into propagational fluxes, directed toward the restoration of homogeneity and isotropy.
- Rotation: specifications of the operator Conservation and expression of the Principle of Least Action. They transmute the propagation of Variations into conservative (torsional) fluxes, tending to preserve the same Variations.
All forms of Physical Action are limited.
At any level of Complexity, Physical Action represents the transition from the possible to the actual in the physical domain of Reality.
It is the expression of the fundamental features of the two components of the Derived Physical Sources—the Derived Physical Forces and the Derived Physical Fields—Causality and Variationality (Spatiality and Temporality) respectively, in the physical domains of Reality.
Action-at-a-distance
In this model of description of Reality, in the System of Knowledge that I call Evolutionary Knowledge, there is no room for action-at-a-distance, as intended in the field of Quantum Mechanics with reference to the Phenomenon called "entanglement".
In my view, every time we see Action occurring in Reality, whenever it seems to take the form of "Action at a distance," and every time we invoke the abstract concept of Field to explain the nature and dynamics of such Action in the apparent absence of "physical contact," we miss the opportunity to seek a deeper understanding of the nature of Reality. Abandoning the idea of an invisible Ether that supports mechanical actions appearing as actions at a distance (e.g., the propagation of light, of electric and magnetic forces, or of gravity) was a fundamental step toward the new physics of the twentieth century, which vastly expanded the descriptive and predictive power of physical theories.
Yet the replacement of the ether with abstract fields—fields that do not provide us with the possibility or capacity to represent geometrically or mechanically the Phenomena that seem to manifest action at a distance—was an important renunciation of a plausible vision of Reality, in favor of an abstract, almost supernatural framework. Together with the concept of non-locality, this has condemned physics to a destiny of anti-realism and of an inability to construct "meaningful" interpretations of microcosmic Phenomena. Concrete mechanics has been replaced by an abstract mysticism, incomprehensible and scarcely plausible, though supported by brilliant and impeccable formalisms, which, in truth, make it possible to carry out extremely precise predictions about the results of observations and experiments.
This is not an "a priori" position against one of the central hypotheses of Quantum Mechanics. The evidence of entanglement deriving from experiments, and the current development of quantum technology based on this strange phenomenon, require profound reflection on its nature and on the entire interpretation of Quantum Mechanics.
We do not deny the existence of the Phenomenon, but the explanations coming from QM. To truly understand entanglement, I think we must overcome the two main approaches to the historical debate on the fundamental nature of the quantum and the principle of reality.
We will look in greater detail in the chapter dedicated to the Structures of Information, where we will examine some of the bizarre evolutions of the quantum world.
